When a person moves into a new home or an apartment one of the first rooms that they want to re-design is the bathroom. Bathroom designing is not very hard to do. All you need is to know a few tips and ideas to get you started. Bathroom décor includes many things such as painting, tiling, installing bathroom accessories, and much more.

Bathroom Designing

Ok, you know you want to re-design the bathroom. The first thing you should do is to picture in your mind what you would like to do, and decide what accessories will be needed to finish the bathroom. You should write the changes down on a pad so that you will not forget them later, and you can make changes when you are looking at the bathroom décor at your local home improvement store. You may even want to make a small sketch of the bathroom as it is now and have small notes written down as to how and what you want to change. These notes can be done in different colored ink, so that when you show your drawing to a sales person they can be more knowledgeable as to what you want, and how they can help you in your bathroom décor. They can show you different bathroom accessories, than you had thought of, that will be more beneficial to you in finishing your bathroom.

Bathroom Décor

You should have a theme of some kind to start your bathroom design. It may be that you have a small bathroom and instead of actually building your bathroom bigger, you want to just make some changes in it to give the impression of a larger bathroom. This is accomplished by adding shelving, repainting, retiling, and using other bathroom décor. You can install another mirror on one of the walls so that it will reflect the light from a small window and the ceiling lights, or other lights in the bathroom. This will produce a well light room.

Bathroom Accessories

Bathroom accessories come in all sorts of items, they include bathroom drawer knobs, shelves, hooks, showerheads, rugs, showerhead shelves, cabinets, and much more. For instance, you can screw in some extra hooks around the shower or bathtub wall to hang scrubbies and other things on. You can also purchase small triangular shelves that screw in to the corners of the wall just above the bathtub or waist high on the shower wall. Some shelves are made especially to hang over the showerhead, which will hold shampoo, conditioner, and other hair products.

Bathroom Décor

You will want all of your bathroom décor to match in some way, whether is to match one of several colors, or to incorporate a theme of some kind. Bathroom tiles come in many shapes and sizes and can give your bathroom a look of elegance. You can use your imagination and come up with your own design for using bathroom tiles, or you can use a reassigned design that you can get at the home improvement store.

Bathroom Finishing

Bathroom finishing should give you the look and the feel of a larger, more comfortable and appealing bathroom not only for you but also to your guests as well. You should look around once your bathroom has been finished to make sure you have done exactly what you intended to do when you started. One of the items that have usually been over looked is the medicine cabinet. Many people are disappointed when they start to shave or put on makeup and there is never enough light. One way to remedy this is to install a lighted mirror, as close to the medicine chest as you can, (if you cannot remove the medicine chest and put it some other place). The extra lights around the cosmetic mirror will become a necessity once you use it a couple of times.

Remember when you choose your bathroom décor, the type of accessories, and finishings that you choose will benefit your bathroom design. Bathroom designing and your bathroom décor should all complement each other. If you have done the bathroom designing yourself, you can brag to your friends and relatives that you did it all yourself. Then watch the astonishment in their eyes.
